Against the backdrop of Hurricane Ida, a deadly power outage and COVID-19, the city of New Orleans is a case study in what happens when disasters overwhelm vital infrastructure, such as power grids and hospital systems. As New Orleans recovers from the aftermath of Ida and the delta variant rampages through the South, it is imperative to understand how and why city, utility and hospital officials failed to protect residents. In this event, we will address inequities that arise in crises and examine what New Orleans institutions have learned, if anything, from prior disasters. Register and submit your questions below.
